What is the MagPlay® Wall?
The MagPlay® Wall is the original arch magnetic wall decal for kids, pioneering magnetic wall decals in Australia since 2023.
Stick it to a smooth wall and it becomes a magnetic play space. Our signature WallKind backing makes it strong enough for everyday play and gentle on suitable walls. Families across Australia use it for drawing, storytelling, daily routines and screen-free play.
Highly Commended, Play or Development Product, 2026 Kiindred Awards.
What kids can do on a magnetic play wall
The MagPlay Wall gives kids a spot of their own for hands-on magnetic play. No batteries, no apps, no screens.
- Magnetic drawing
- Letters and numbers
- Animal sorting and storytelling
- Visual morning routines
Pair it with our Animal Magnet Set and Fruit & Vegetable Magnet Set to get started, and everyday moments turn into screen-free activities the whole family can enjoy.
How the magnetic wall decal is made
MagPlay® WallKind Technology combines a fabric-padded core with a flexible adhesive layer. It feels secure and stable, works like a true magnetic surface and stays gentle on suitable walls.
That is the difference between WallKind and cheap decals that rely on strong glue. It is designed for everyday, screen-free play in modern homes.
The MagPlay Wall holds most standard magnets and magnetic tiles firmly in place during play. Very heavy magnets might not be suitable.

Will it suit your wall?
The MagPlay Wall works best on clean, smooth, non-absorbent walls in good condition. WallKind is engineered to be gentle and repositionable, which is why renters use it too.
Works on
- Painted walls in matte, satin or velvet finishes
- Smooth wood and melamine
- Glass walls and doors
Not suitable for
- Textured plaster, brick or fibreglass
- Structured or embossed wallpaper
- Stain-repellent or lacquer paints
- Outdoor, humid or greasy areas such as kitchens
- Walls in direct sun, which can stain the colour and affect the adhesive
Before you apply: the wall must be clean, in good condition and completely dry. If you have washed it, wait 72 hours.
Please note: WallKind is engineered to reduce surface damage, but no adhesive is 100% risk-free. Take extra care on painted surfaces and check the quality of both the undercoat and the top coat. MagPlay is not responsible for damage to the wall during application or removal, and we can’t guarantee that the decal will stay intact on every surface, that no adhesive will remain, or that paint won’t be affected.
Not sure? Test a small area first, check our Wall Compatibility Guide, or send a photo to contact@magplay.com.au. Renting, or have textured walls? Choose the MagPlay Wall + Board Bundle and use your magnetic play wall anywhere, with no wall risk.

The MagPlay Wall
Frequently asked questions
What is a magnetic wall decal, and how does the MagPlay Wall work?
The MagPlay Wall is a magnetic wall decal, a thin, self-adhesive magnetic surface you apply to a smooth wall to instantly create a magnetic play wall. One side sticks gently to your wall with our WallKind™ backing; the other is magnetic, so kids can attach magnets, draw and play. It measures roughly 96 × 75 cm.
How do I install my MagPlay magnetic wall decal?
Installation takes just a few minutes and needs no tools. Make sure your wall is clean, dry and in good condition first.
Step 1: Peel back a 5 cm strip of the protective sheet from the adhesive side.
Step 2: Stick that top strip to the wall, then slowly peel the backing down.
Step 3: Smooth the decal on from the centre outwards to remove air bubbles.
A QR code to the full step-by-step guide is included in the box.
What walls and surfaces does the magnetic decal work on?
It works best on clean, smooth, non-absorbent surfaces: painted walls (matte, satin or velvet finish), smooth wood, melamine, glass and doors. Avoid textured or porous surfaces such as plaster, embossed wallpaper, stain-repellent "easy-clean" paints, fibreglass, brick and lacquer, plus humid or outdoor areas.
Unsure about your wall? Check our Wall Compatibility Guide, or choose the Wall + Board Bundle to use your magnetic play wall anywhere.
Will removing the magnetic wall decal damage my wall?
Please read this before you buy. Our WallKind™ backing is engineered to be gentle on walls, and many families take it down or reposition it cleanly. But no adhesive is completely risk-free: depending on your wall type, paint quality and finish (especially older, lower-quality, freshly painted or already-damaged paint), taking the decal down can lift paint or leave marks.
We can't guarantee that your wall or paint won't be affected. We strongly recommend checking our Wall Compatibility Guide and testing a small, hidden area first. If you'd rather avoid any wall risk entirely, choose the Wall + Board Bundle, which sticks to a board instead of your wall.
Is the MagPlay Wall rental-friendly?
WallKind™ is repositionable and popular with renters, but taking the decal down is never completely risk-free: it depends on your wall type and paint condition, and we can't guarantee against marks. If you have to hand a rental back spotless, the safest choice is the Wall + Board Bundle, which needs no adhesive on the wall.
What can my child do on a magnetic play wall?
Everything from magnetic drawing to storytelling, letters and numbers, animal sorting and daily routine charts. The surface also works with chalk and whiteboard markers. It's an open-ended, screen-free play space that grows with your child. Pair it with our magnet sets to get started.
Can I draw on my magnetic wall decal?
Yes, the MagPlay Wall surface is made for it. Draw with our dust-free washable crayons, chalk, or water-based whiteboard markers, then simply wipe clean and start again. Avoid permanent or oil-based markers, and check the care instructions on the product page.
What magnets can I use on the MagPlay Wall?
MagPlay works with most standard magnets and lightweight magnetic tiles. Avoid heavy magnets, which won't hold well on the flexible magnetic sheet. Our MagPlay magnet sets are designed to pair perfectly.
How do I clean and maintain my decal?
Simply wipe with a soft, damp cloth when needed. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may affect the fabric layer or the adhesive.
